Chipping Flood 1st July 1851, report from Preston Chronicle

An  account of the Chipping Flood 1st July 1851, published in the Preston Chronicle July 5th.   Copy below is taken from the British Library archive.

At that time John Evans ran the cotton spinning business at Kirk Mill and lived at Kirk House.

The mills upstream are mentioned — Dewhurst’s spindle and fly works at Wolfen Mill and Bond’s cotton spinning mill at Saunder Rake (which later became Tweedys foundry).
