The malt kiln at Heron Corn Mill … Hundreds of years ago, there was a corn mill where Kirk Mill now stands. Could explain why Kirk Mill is on ‘Malt Kiln Lane’ ?!! The corn was dried in here before being milled. Peat was burned under the flooring to generate the heat for drying.
